How flipped text is built
There is no real upside-down font. Instead, each letter is replaced by a character that looks like the rotated letter, such as a for ɐ and m for ɯ, drawn from Latin and phonetic Unicode blocks. The order of the characters is also reversed, so the sentence reads left to right once you rotate it in your head.
Fun ways to use it
Playful captions, riddles with the answer upside down, a reaction in a group chat or a joke in a username. It is a novelty, so keep messages short and give people a clue that they should tilt their head.
Limits to know about
Capital letters are flipped as their lowercase forms because most Unicode flips are lowercase. Characters with no flipped look, such as many symbols and accented letters, are left as they are.
Questions about upside down text generator
Why does the order of letters reverse?
Turning a line of text around flips the end to the start, so the generator reverses the characters for a natural reading order.
Does it work on every platform?
Most platforms show it correctly. Some fonts miss a few phonetic characters and fall back to a different font for them.
Is there a way to only reverse the letters?
Yes, the reverse text generator mirrors the order without changing the letters.
