Italic that does not need a formatting menu

Most places you type, from bios to comment boxes, have no italic button. These letters are separate Unicode characters drawn with a slant, so you copy them like any other text.

Italic (serif) looks like a classic book italic. Sans Italic is a slanted version of a clean sans-serif, which tends to look more modern. The Bold variants add weight when you want the slant to stand out.

When a slant helps

Italics read as emphasis, a quiet aside, a quote or a title. A single italic line under a name can add personality without shouting. Italic across a whole paragraph is harder to read, so keep it short.

A small detail about the letter h

In the mathematical italic alphabet the lowercase h sits in a different part of Unicode than the other letters. This tool maps it correctly, so words with h do not show a gap or a missing glyph.

Questions about italic text generator

Is this the same as using Ctrl+I?

No. Ctrl+I applies formatting that only exists inside one program. These are different characters, so the slant travels with the text.

Which italic is easiest to read?

Sans Italic is usually the clearest on small screens. The serif Italic is more decorative.

Can I italicize numbers?

The Unicode italic alphabets cover letters only, so digits stay as plain numbers. The bold styles do convert digits.
