Lines drawn with combining characters
The strike and underline are not formatting. Each letter is followed by a Unicode combining mark that draws a line through or under it, so the effect is part of the text itself and survives copy and paste.
Use cases
Show a price that was cut, a corrected word, a joke where you cross out what you pretend you did not say, or a headline underlined in a place where nothing else is available. Strikethrough is also common in to-do lists that live in plain text.
Keep an eye on length limits
Each letter carries an invisible extra character, so the text counts as about twice its visible length in some apps. That matters for short fields such as usernames and bios.

Does strikethrough work in Discord and Slack?
Both have their own syntax (~~text~~ in Discord, ~text~ in Slack). Use that where available; use this tool for apps with no formatting.
Why does underlined text look slightly different on my phone?
The combining line is drawn by your device, so its thickness and position can differ between systems.
Can I combine strike and underline?
Not in this tool. Stacking marks makes text harder to read.
