What fraktur text is
Fraktur is a blackletter style from German printing, the angular, old-newspaper look many people call gothic or old English. Unicode includes a full fraktur alphabet, and this tool uses it, so you get real characters instead of an image.
Fraktur is the lighter version. Bold Fraktur is heavier and reads better at small sizes.
Where it fits
Gaming tags, band or channel names, dark-themed bios, event posters shared as text, and tattoo lettering mock-ups to show a friend or an artist. It is decorative, so keep it to a name or a short line.
Readability note
Blackletter capitals are tricky to read, especially C, G and S. If people need to recognise your name, test it with a friend before you commit to it.
Questions about gothic text generator
Is gothic text the same as old English text?
People use both names for blackletter lettering. The characters here come from the Unicode fraktur alphabet.
Can I use it for a tattoo?
It is useful for trying out a look, but a tattoo artist should draw the final lettering from a proper blackletter font.
Will it show up on every device?
Most current devices draw it. Very old systems may show boxes, in which case choose a simpler style.
